   THE TRAGICOMEDY OF MAC-BETH

Based on Shakespeare’s great tragedy, this sparse re-imagining is told with only five characters and set in the minds of a frustrated, sleep-deprived pair. Mac-Beth couples some of Shakespeare’s most powerful verse with Rex’s acerbic contemporary language.

This version, stripping the play to five core characters, is set in the minds of an ambitious and sleep-deprived couple. Reality and hallucination merge in a unique piece of theatre.

‘Never let it be said Sebastian Rex isn’t a visual director, getting the best out of his designers (in this case Anna Soboleva). Despite having a fraction of the budget of a West End spectacular, he never fails to create as interesting and thought-provoking a staging as his script. His Woyzeck was all knives and bladed angles, Fulfil Me Fully, Phil was a black and white Max Fleischer cartoon brought to life. Now, his Mac-Beth has splashes of royal blue with versatile wooden chairs transforming from office chairs to thrones to parapets that our leads literally stick their heads above.’
